Panzie's Story & Details
Panzie was born in the high country of Arizona, the baby of the family, with a mature Dalmatian and a cat to call "pack". She actually had to adjust to being an indoor dog. A few years and a couple moves later, Panzie lived with a bunch of cats and others dogs quite peacefully, well-denying her Akita nature. (She is, however, the top dog in any mixed group thus far.) She is very in tune to whom is up the rung on the ladder though. She was extremely gentle, protective and tender with me after a C-section, refusing to jump, paw or anything else that might hurt though she was never broken of the jumping thing until then. She guarded my infant daughter, sleeping in her room in front of the crib. She also guards the trash can and groceries set on the floor. She will not touch them, nor will she allow any other dog or cat to touch them.
Now, she lives with three cats, another dog (6 month old St. Berner, Crothers) and 4 to 6 kids (17, 10, 7, 6, 2 and 2). She is tolerant of the kids playing on her or around her, but she does prefer kids one-on-one. They're easier to lick that way : ) Funny thing though, she hates water. Bathing is simple enough but she will not get into water deeper than a puddle. And she is fastidious about her paws (my Dal was too), grooming them until we're annoyed with the lick-slurp.
We're looking forward to a number of years with our Pannie-Pan.
