Goma

My ShiChi is currently 6 months old and from day one, he was such a sweetheart. He has black fur, around 4 pounds, and has the most interesting personality. You can definitly tell the personality traits from both parent dogs of the shih tzu and the chihuahua. I personally didn't get my dog from a pet store or a pound, but got it from a friend's family that had both a shih tzu and chihuahua that unexpectedly "fell in love" and made puppies! My puppy was the only one that was black out of all of the whole litter! My Shichi, his name being Goma, has none of the loud traits like the average chihuahua, most of the time he is chill, quiet, and craves attention by bringing his toy to your feet and sitting in a playing position, just waiting. He is also a very crafty and smart dog. He manages to find ways to get across gates that I have MADE SURE to blockevery small passageways but he always finds one small way. He is a very patient dog and deals with all my pestering and love, and he would do anything to get a treat from you, even if he has to sit and stare at the cupboard that contains his treats. Tempermant wise, he has no problem at all! I've made sure to train him very well, so although he nibbles (since he's apuppy) He generally does not growl or snap at anyone. He only growls when you are playing tug-o-war with him with one of his toys.He is also very fit! He does not overeat and only eats twice a day like any average dog! He also never runs away! You can open the door as wide was you want but he will never leave until you put the leash on him and get him ready! I walk him often so my puppy knows where to go and literally leads ME home. I live in a condo and although all condos look the same, he knows which is our house and goes straight to our door and wait for me to open it! And finally, the warm welcome that he gives you how his ears go back, his tail is wagging, and he waits behind the door is unbelivably adorable and heart warming! I do not regret getting my puppy at all. I would not get any other ShiChi but Goma since he is such a doll! A side note: The name "Goma" means "Little One" in the Korean language. At first I wanted to name him Rambo, but that's just silly. Goma suits him very well!

Thoughts on my shi chi

Hi, i own a sch chi, tinker. He also likes to bark at people walking past my house but i have started to distract him when possible, he is very playful and loving and seems to have all the best bits of both breeds. If you notice any growling etc or nipping then gets some dog books and read up. Buy both breeds to get a overall view. I have'nt noticed any trates different than found in any other small breeds. I have 3 young children and he gets on great with them. He knows he's my baby but still a dog. My youngest child is 4 and he will try it on with him given the chance by trying to steal bits of snacks etc. Best bit about owing a shi chi is that he is so different and always draws lots of attention when out and about and he really is like my best friend and gives me most of his attention and always seeking out mine.

Midnite

have a 6 month ShiChi who we have had since he was 6 weeks old. He is a fiesty little thing at just 8 lbs. I can see both breeds in him. He barks alot when people drive by or walk by our house. We enrolled him into a puppy training class to help with his behavior but he still snaps and nips at my girls ages 7 and 11. He is also a loving lap dog most days and demands belly rubs from us. However he has his momments when he gets moody and will nip and growl at the girls. We all have battle scars to prove it. We are getting him fixed next week in hopes that he will calm down some.
