Flapjack 's Story & Details
This Pitchow was run over by a car. No one wanted to take responsibility. (hit and run) I was shocked to see that she was friendly considering that she was wounded. The part of town that I found her in, is known for "game dogs". But her color and the Purple tongue was a dead give away. (Chow) When I picked her up and took her to the vet, she was docile and had recently lost her puppy teeth. This is how I approximate her age. She had a broken pelvis (Split right down the middle) She was lucky it wasnt near a joint. She was also bruised and had a broken jaw. Since she had no ID I took her home. She lived with my relatives in the beginning because I really wasnt looking for a dog. They had a large 150 lbs bull mastiff mix and Flapjack or Pancake as we began to call her, was to wild to stay with their dog. I took her to my house and put up a fence in the back yard and she has been with me ever since.
Her photo doesnt really do her justice and I might be partial since she is my dog, but EVERYONE that sees her is extreemly intrested in her and attracted to her. The Chow part of her makes her look like a teddy bear. I have had other dogs in my life but she is by far the best looking and the most athletic.
She is so athletic in fact, She can swim for hours on end with no breaks (If I let her). Climbs into the fruit trees I have and takes the apples or pears. Pulls her tire around the yard. Hangs from her mouth on a rope I attached to a bungee. Dock dives and plays in high waves. Dives down 5-10 ft to fetch her heavy rubber toys. Crazy athletic.
Hello from Erie, PA as well. Well, actually Waterford/Greene Township. I think Flapjack is a doll. I was reading your post about the boots and was practically crying. Our boweimars really were weirded out by the snow and cold but as they got older started playing much more in it. Unfortunately that last cold snow spell that we had I let them do their business in my garage. It has taken quite some time to break that habit and we still have the occassional clean up if I leave the door open while they are out playing.
