Petey's Story & Details
I found Petey on a Rottweiler Rescue website here in Michigan. I had just lost my purebred Rott to Canine Diabetes. I loved the idea of getting another Rott, but maybe not getting a dog as big as my Rott was. Petey fit the bill perfectly. We fell in love with him and vice versa. He came from a good environment from what we could tell. His owners had a 20 acre farm with seven dogs and a couple cats. They both lost their jobs due to the economy and couldn't afford to vet or feed all the dogs as they used to. They were sad to let Petey go, but they knew it was in his best interest. I have had another mixed breed dog in the past, but by far Petey has the best traits of both the Lab and the Rott. Not a mean bone in his body. He's even gentle with my mom's little Chihuahua dog. I can't say the same for wild rodents and birds though. We just moved into a new home with a 1 acre yard. To date, he has captured and killed 1 chipmonk, 1 Groundhog, 3 Cardinals, 1 squirrel and a pigeon. He's also a very high energy dog. He's considered middle age and still has the energy of a 1 year old dog. Overall, I wouldn't trade him for the world.. ;)
