Dixie's Story & Details
We adopted Dixie at the Animal Welfare League in Illinos. We passed her by mant times as we were looking at the other dogs, not even giving her a second look because of the hair she had. She was laying down in her cage with her head facing the back of her cage, so we never saw her face just the hair. We had another dog at the time that we had brought in with us to see if the two dogs were compatible before we took one home. We had picked two dogs out and brought them by our dog which is an Akita-Shepard mix. She is a big baby and likes everybody. Needless to say the two dogs we had picked out were not right for her, so one of the ppl working there said let me bring in this Jackapoo that we have and see how that works. Well they brought her in and she loved our dog and they got along very well together so we took her. She wasn't really what we were looking for but she had a sweet face. The lady working at the desk said she was adopted out twice before and brought back both times because of chewing things up and excessive barking. We gave her a try anyway, she did have a bit of a chewing problem at first but she finally got out of that. We couldn't have asked for a better dog, i think she was brought back to shelted before because she was meant to be with us. She is a fun loving little girl, we have 4 cats and our other dog (Duchess) and she loves them all.
