In the spring of 1999 my husband had already moved to Texas from North Carolina and started a new job. I was still here with the kids until school was out for the summer. I was reading the Sunday paper one morning when I saw an ad that read Free Otterhound. Of course I called right away. I have always been fascinated by certain breeds and Otterhound was one of them. A hunter had found Phisher running around the woods where he was hunting. He brought him home and named him Buddy. He was unable to find the owner and now was giving him away. I was there within the hour. He was young and dirty and matted and wild. When the gate was opened so that we could go in he took off like a bolt of lightening. The guy said "He does this sometimes but he will be back in a minute." Well, finally the guy had to give chase and bring him back. The rest is history. He has been part of our family ever since. I find it difficult to believe that Phisher is 100% Otterhound as only a handful of litters had been born in the US in 1998. But I am going with Otterhound Mix as it is anybody's guess.
