Beauregard's Story & Details
Beau was a rescue from the County Animal Shelter in Carlsbad, California in 2000. My beloved yellow lab had passed away and my black lab and I decided it was time to adopt again. When I met Beau at the shelter, he was very aloof and didn't seem to care if I paid attention or not. I adopted him anyway and, once he realized I was giving him a permanent home and loved him dearly, he became very devoted to me. He's a sweet, cuddly boy who seems to know my moods. I was in the fire service when our local animal shelter burned down in 2001. The fire killed about 100 animals, mostly dogs, and it was a devastating experience. My job was to meet with the media at the site from the time of the fire to several days afterward and when I could get away for a short time to go home, Beau was there for me and very comforting. Since then, I was able to also adopt the last dog found alive at the shelter, my black lab passed away, and now it's just Beau, Flame, and me.
