History of Daisy

by jcyboron on 1/4/2011 at 5:17 PM in First Post

Since I just registered on designermixes.org I thought I would put up the history on Daisy. Daisy is a schnese, half mini-schnauzer and half havanese. I haven't seen much online about this breed and while searching, I found this site.

I got Daisy back on March 1st 2010. I wanted a small dog but not a fragile one. I was told the schnauzer part of her was sturdy but she would stay small, with a 7 and 5 year old boys at home, that sounded perfect.

Daisy has been exactly what I wanted. She is loving, cuddles and playful all at the same time. She was pretty easy to potty train. The only problem I have had is that she will run off if she gets lose. We live in a town home and are not able to have a regular fence so I just recently put up a small black metal fence that is temporary so it is allowed. It has been a huge help because we don't have to hook her up to a chain anymore and I am sure she likes it better too.

Daisy comes to work with me every day and has a blast. Everyone I work with loves her and she never meets a stranger, just gets really excited to see anyone who enters the office. My co-workers enjoy seeing the little shirts I put on her too, she didn't have a shirt on today and 2 different people asked, "no shirt?".

Daisy is now 1 year old, her birthday was Dec 28th and she is 10-12 inches tall and 6.5 lbs (last time I checked). She is silvery white in color and she gets groomed every couple of months.

If anyone else has a schnese, I would like to know. It's always fun to make contact with owners of others with the same breed and since I haven't found much online up to this point.

I guess that's it.

Logan's Dental Woes Continue

by sands904 on 1/3/2011 at 8:14 PM in Logan

Well on Christmas morning Lance and Logan were playing tug with their new toys and all of a sudden they stopped and I found a tooth laying on the floor in front of Logan. I picked up the tooth and looked at it. I couldn't tell if all the roots had come out with it or not. From our past experienced I know that if the entire root does not come out the vet recommends going in and removing it so that it does not abscess and get infected causing all sorts of problems.

Tuesday we went into the vet with Logan and the tooth. She looked at the tooth and said it did not look normal. To her it appeared to have rotted from the inside out. She is going to consult with a dental specialist and see what we can do about this. Thursday Logan has an appointment to be sedated and have the roots of that tooth removed and the rest of the x-rayed to make sure they are all healthy. Hopefully he does not have any more 'rotten' teeth.

I don't know how much more this poor little boy can take :(
